Immigration pushes deportation of worker convicted of ‘ice’ charges
The Division of Immigration has sought the deportation of a former manager convicted of illegal possession of methamphetamine or “ice.”
Assistant attorney general Ian Catlett said Lin Jinfu alias Ling, a Chinese, is a deportable alien, as he has been convicted of felony.
Immigration investigator Nicolas T. Reyes stated in court papers that he received information from a Corrections officer about Lin’s case on Tuesday.
Reyes said court records indicate that on Sept. 14, 2005, Lin pleaded guilty to illegal possession of a controlled substance. Superior Court Associate Judge Ramona V. Manglona sentenced the defendant to four years in jail, with no parole or probation. Manglona ordered the defendant to pay $2,000 fine and $100 in court assessment fee.
The judge said Lin shall be deported after serving his sentence.
Associate Judge David A. Wiseman ordered Lin to appear in court on Feb. 23 to explain why he should not be deported from the Commonwealth.
Then assistant attorney general Janine R. Udui stated in the information that Lin “did knowingly or intentionally possess with intent to deliver” .7 grams of “ice” last July 21, .7 grams on July 27, 2004, and four grams on Aug. 28, 2004.
According to court papers, an agent from the Department of Public Safety’s Special Operation Bureau Section’s Drugs and Firearms Task Force Unit received information that Lin was involved in trafficking “ice.”
The Task Force alleged that they were able to purchase “ice” from the defendant during separate controlled buy-bust operation in Garapan.
Labor records show that Lin used to be a manager for L&B Corp. in 2003. From 2000 to 2002, he worked as a deckhand for Tinian Shipping and Transportation Inc.
In 1999 he was an attendant housekeeping with the Hong Kong Ent. Overseas Ltd. In 1997, the respondent worked as a construction worker for Hong Xiang Corp.
