19 firms to participate in MHS Career Fair
Nineteen groups from the government and private sectors have confirmed their participation in the Marianas High School Career Fair this Tuesday.
MHS teacher and coordinator Tyce Mister received confirmation from the following companies: CNMI Public Defender’s Office, Coastal Resources Management, Community Guidance Center, Commonwealth Ports Authority, Delta Management dba Shell, Department of Public Health, DFS Galleria, and Hard Rock Café.
Other companies are Joeten Motors, JC Tenorio Enterprises, Joeten’s ACE Hardware, Marianas Visitor’s Authority, NMC CREES, Northern Marianas Housing Corp., Office of the Public Auditor, Office of Vocational Rehabilitation, Pacific Islands Club, Pacific Telecom Inc., Saipan Grand Hotel, and Sorensen Pacific Broadcasting.
The Career Fair will be held on Jan. 24, Tuesday, at the MHS Cafeteria from 1:15pm to 3pm only.
Mister said MegaByte, Saipan Crewboats, & Microl Toyota would not be able to attend the event on Tuesday but have expressed interest for interview and training of prospective interns from the largest public high school in the CNMI.
He said at least 45 students from the MHS Cooperative Education & Training Program would be trooping down to the cafeteria and meeting the representatives of companies and government agencies.
The participating organizations will be giving out business cards, brochures and application forms. They will also conduct preliminary interviews with the students for possible internship or on-the-job training in their organizations.
The program coordinator said interviews could begin as early as Jan. 25 in the afternoon after 2pm depending on student availability.
“Students will provide their own transportation to their business sites. Students are encouraged to do three interviews with different companies and training will begin after the “Training Agreement” has been signed,” he said.
Mister said the event intends to expose high school students to different career options available to them in the CNMI. He said the fair would be an opportunity for both employers and students to meet each other and possibly set up an arrangement for Cooperative Training. The program started in 1971 and has produced several graduates.
For more information and cancellation, Mister is requesting the companies he mentioned to contact him through 664-3831.
