An improved Latte Café opens
Garapan’s most intimate, breezy restaurant has reopened after undergoing three months of improvement.
Latte Café, owned by local triathlete Yoshi Suzuki and his new business partner Marivic Rosario, now features an expanded menu, extended service hours, and an uncluttered interior décor to tweak the customers’ appetite.
The new menu includes a still growing variety of appetizers, soup, salads, pasta, and sandwiches.
Old Latte Café favorites such as mentaiko spaghetti, chicken teriyaki, and pork ginger are still available. But customers are also encouraged to sample new additions such as the Thai-style beef kelaguen and the Chamorro-style chicken kelaguen, garlic shrimp, and lemongrass soup.
Customers now also have more pasta choices, which include basil pesto, garlic meat sauce, marinara, and pepperoncino. For the sandwiches, the selection includes Latte’s homemade burger, chicken teriyaki wrap, traditional BLT with a sunny side up, tuna sandwich, and vegetarian sandwich.
Those who have a craving for rice can always try the “chef’s favorite”—shrimp or chicken curry.
Needless to say, Latte Café is still brewing and serving some of the best coffee on Saipan, as well as ice cream and desserts. Several beer brands and wine are also available.
To complement the restaurant’s tropical ambience, Latte Café got local artist Douglas Rankin to paint a scenic view of Forbidden Island on the wall adjacent to the café’s door. A hammock has also been placed in the restaurant’s open-air section, allowing customers to further relax and enjoy the cool breeze coming from the Saipan lagoon.
Furthermore, Latte Café now offers free high-speed wireless Internet access, so diners could bring their laptop along and get some work done while they sip a cup of coffee.
“We’re still looking for more ways to improve our customer service,” Rosario says.
Latte Café is located behind Rainbow Photo, next to the Chamolinian Cultural Village on Beach Road. It is open 6:30am-8pm, Monday to Saturday, and 6:30am-6pm, Sunday. (Agnes E. Donato)
