The Hotel Association of the Northern Mariana Islands elected its 2006 board of directors Friday at its monthly meeting held at the World Resort Saipan.

Lynn Knight of Century Hotel will serve as chairwoman, B.K. Park of World Resort Saipan will serve as vice chairman, Yutaka Fujita of Hotel Nikko Saipan will serve as vice chairman, Michael von Siebenthal of Hyatt Regency Saipan will serve as secretary, Kieran Daly of Pacific Islands Club will serve as treasurer, and Becky Castro will serve as the allied member.

HANMI is enjoying a strong membership as it heads into 2006. There are 16 hotel members and 18 allied members. HANMI obviously has a difficult year ahead with the loss of flights from Japan and the decline in hotel occupancies.

“This is a crucial time for our economy and I’m glad to have such a knowledgeable board of directors to work with during 2006,” said HANMI chairwoman Knight. “We must work together with our local government officials and other community organizations to promote tourism. As you know, tourism is a vital part of the CNMI’S economy.”

Founded 20 years ago, HANMI is a forum for executives in the hotel industry and allied members. (PR)
