Despite calls for the courtesy resignation on all government officials appointed by the Babauta administration, Commonwealth Utilities Corp. board chair Frank Guerrero will not resign from his post until the new administration of Gov. Benigno R. Fitial explicitly tells him to do so.

Guerrero said he intends to complete his term with the board until April 2006. He added that he has not received word from the new administration about any desire for him to leave the CUC’s board, saying that the governor continues to communicate with him about the utility firm’s problems.

Guerrero said he would only vacate his post with the CUC board if the new administration wants him to resign. ”If they want me out, I’ll be happy to tender my courtesy resignation,” he said.

Guerrero added that he is not officially aware of any plan by the administration to suspend the powers of the CUC board despite news reports quoting Lt. Gov. Timothy P. Villagomez about the purported plan.

Besides CUC board member Herman Sablan, who had vacated his post even before the new administration came in, only board member Joe Torres has disclosed tendering his courtesy resignation. Torres headed the Fitial administration’s transition committee for the CUC.

The CUC board includes board chair Guerrero, and members Alan Perez, Laura Manglona, and Rufina Miles.
