B-n-S closed their regular season campaign on the high note yesterday after beating Malat, 65-29, in the ongoing World Organized Rocball High School League at the Marianas High School Gymnasium.

With veteran Myron Laniyo putting a hurt on the ball, B-n-S made quick work of their opponents and juiced out by winning all four sets in regulation.

Laniyo and company dominated from the start and sent a strong message to their opponents by taking care of business in the first set. B-n-S combined to fire up seven two pointers—ace, xunk, or kee—and manhandled Malat for an easy 17-3 victory.

The start was just a hint of things to come as B-n-S continued to fire away in the second set to increase their lead. With Malat having trouble making first serves, B-n-S quickly took control of the set and wound up scoring a 15-4 win to go ahead by a commanding 25 points in the overall tally, 32-7.

Malat finally got going and put up a stronger fight in the third set. Julian Fitial ignited a respectable push by connecting for goal for the team’s first three points of the set. Malat, however, was hampered by a couple of first-serve mishaps and B-n-S still came away with a 16-12 victory.

Malat still had a shot at winning despite trailing, 19-58. They needed to win the fourth set to force o-kon, then win both o-kon sets to achieve their goal.

It was not to be for Malat, though, as B-n-S kept their focus and posted a 17-10 score for the clincher.

Laniyo led B-n-S and finished as the game’s heavy hitter with 16 points after pounding away for six aces and two kees while Xavier Taisacan and Kaleo Olaitiman supported him with 10 and eight points. Taisacan had three aces, a xunk, and a kee, while Olaitiman smacked in an ace, a xunk, and two kees.

With the win, B-n-S finished the season with a 4-3 win-loss card and is just a half game ahead of Black Magic. Black Magic has yet to complete its seventh round game. If Black Magic wins, both teams will be tied in fourth place.

Leading the team standings is defending champion Mwaliyas (6-0), while Ochobu (5-1) is just one game back. The two will face each other at the end of the regular season to determine who will be the pennant champion. Sitting in third place is the Lagooners at 4-2.
