With its Fall and Masters leagues already in the books, the Saipan Major League will kick off its 2006 season this morning at the Francisco M. Palacios Baseball Field.

This according to league coordinator Tony Rogolifoi, who said the teams having the honors of opening the season are Wow Pow Masters and Seabees. The two will begin their bout at 10am. The Masters squad comprises of players from the recently concluded Masters League.

Also joining the quest for the coveted crown are powerhouses Ford Rangers and Northern Yankees, as well as the Bud Kings.

Rogolifoi said because the lights at the field are not capable of lighting the field for night games, all games will be played during the day.

He said the league will hold a formal ceremony when the lighting system project is completed.

Rogolifoi added that the regular season schedule will be issued soon, adding that the CML will be sharing the sports facility with the 2006 Saipan Little League Baseball season, which is expected to kick off the coming weekend.
