Construction of the new Rota Public Library is now in full swing, with the recent acquisitions of new collateral equipment and computers promising high-tech services and facilities once it is finished.

A successful pre-bidding conference was held in late February for the purchase of the collateral equipment and computers for the new building, which would be located at the Northern Marianas College-Rota instructional site.

Rota Capital Improvement project coordinator Chris Fryling presided over the pre-bid conference with NMC-Rota administrator Severina Atalig-Ogo, and Andy Ramos from the Office of the Mayor of Rota.

Former director of NMC Library Services Laura Hohmann extended her expertise during the pre-bidding session through a telephone conference. Hohmann helped answer questions of several vendors present during the pre-bid session.

“Our entire NMC Rota community members are very anxious to get this project underway so that the library will soon open to service NMC students and the local community,” Ogo said.

She said the recommendation of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges to provide a library on NMC-Rota makes the project an urgent undertaking.

“With the support from our Rota Delegation and Mayor Joseph S. Inos, we are on our way to opening our long awaited public library,” Ogo said.

Vendors present during the pre-bidding conference were: Taro Sue Corp., National Office Supply, White Coconut Computer Services, and Saipan Computer Services.

For other vendors that are interested in submitting a bid, Ogo said that NMC Rota still welcomes their proposals.
