Small, woman-owned biz gets Navy contract

SANTA RITA, Guam—The Navy awarded a housing revitalization contract to Sun Woo Corp. on March 3 for $21,066,480.

The project will improve and repair 99 existing enlisted and officer housing units in South Finegayan located near U.S. Naval Computer and Telecommunications Station, Guam. Improvements include conversion of carports to garages, exterior storage, trash enclosure, concrete roof slabs over new front and rear patios, mirrored closet doors, ceramic tiles, reconfiguration of existing laundry rooms, refurbishment of existing air conditioning systems, and modification of existing concrete walks. Repairs include replacement of worn-out architectural finishes, doors, windows, closet doors and shelves, kitchen countertops, plumbing and light fixtures, and range hoods. The project is scheduled to be completed by March 2008.

Sun Woo Corp., dba Core Tech International, is categorized as a local, small, woman-owned, disadvantaged business. The company is also HUBZone certified under the Small Business Administration.

“We are pleased to have a contract in place for the refurbishment of housing quarters for military families that will significantly improve the quality of life of our sailors and their families,” said Cmdr. Daniel McNair, executive officer of Naval Facilities Engineering Command Marianas, which will administer the contract. “We are confident this local, small business will provide an excellent product for the Navy.”
