Continental Micronesia Inc. filed yesterday a lawsuit in Superior Court against a beauty parlor owner for allegedly issuing a bounced check in the amount of $864.01.

Continental Micronesia, through counsel Loren Sutton, sued Rosalie Cabrera, owner of Salon D’Rose Unisex Beauty Shop.

The plaintiff asked the Superior Court to order Cabrera to pay the principal amount of $864.01 plus treble damages of $750, attorney’s fees of $250, and $135 of court costs.

Saipan Tribune tried to reach Cabrera for comment, but her beauty parlor was not listed in the directory.

Sutton stated in the complaint that on July 29, 2005, Cabrera executed a Bank of Saipan check in the amount of $864.01 for payment to Continental Micronesia.

Sutton said the bank dishonored the check for insufficient funds.

The lawyer said that Continental Micronesia on Jan. 24, 2006 sent a 30-day bad check notice to the defendant.

Sutton said the defendant failed to remedy this and refused to pay. (Ferdie de la Torre)
