Last call for help
Although the little blue box at the receiving counter of the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration office in the Nauru Building will remain until next week, the OWWA Support Group will finalize its collection this Sunday.
The little blue box at the OWWA office has been placed on its counter to enable the Commonwealth’s overseas Filipino workers to donate funds to help victims of the recent landslide in southern Leyte.
According to an OWWA officer, the support group will collect the donations from several Filipino organizations this weekend but the donation will remain open.
The OFW Support Group launched the fund drive in late February.
Chairs Gabriel De Guzman, Daniel Nicomedes, Mario Aquillo, Ignacio Banadera Jr. Ofelia Lopez, and Tina Marie Alverio signed the request for assistance.
The group said the collection would be remitted to the Philippine National Disaster Coordinating Council for purchase of food and other emergency needs of the affected families.
The donations will also be used for the food and other needs of the members of the Volunteers Aid Workers, who are extending helping hands to the victims.
The fundraising project is in collaboration with the OWWA office and the Philippine Consulate Office, both located in the Susupe landmark.
For more information on how to extend assistance for the affected families, donors can visit the OWWA office at the ground floor of the Nauru Building in Susupe. (Marconi Calindas)
