NMC Rota to hold Health Walk
NMC Rota instructional site will be having a Health Walk on Saturday, March 25, to kick off celebrations for the college’s Charter Day.
The walk will start at 6am beginning from Rota Resort parking lot and will end at Pinatang Park at Songsong Village.
NMC president Tony V. Deleon Guerrero is inviting the community and health organizations to this event. He said there would be a nurse stationed during the walk to check the participants’ blood pressure level.
“Also, healthy refreshments will be provided by NMC Rota staff and our collaborator, the Diabetes Association of Rota,” he said.
On March 29, the same campus will be holding an Environmental Awareness Panel Discussion to be attended by several representatives of different local agencies.
Deleon Guerrero said this event is to bring people together to raise awareness of the environmental hazards that can affect an individual’s health, as well as other local and global environmental issues.
“This issue is very important as NMC Rota campus is not limited to the Tatachog site, but serves the entire island of Rota,” he said.
There will also be a question-and-answer session after each panel member completes his or her presentation. The NMC Rota student body and the science class will be the ones directing the questions to the panelist.
Participants in this session will also have the opportunity to browse several informational tables that address an array of health concerns, ranging from environmental protection and sanitation to water resources, air and many others.
On March 31, there will be an island-wide clean up brigade. Each college department will be assigned an area to clean up. It will be followed by a get-together barbecue at Teteto Beach. “There will be various fun activities for everyone to enjoy,” the president said.
