Man accused of exposing genitals pleads guilty
A man accused of exposing his genitals to a nurse at the Commonwealth Health Center and violating a court order entered a guilty plea yesterday.
Sylvan Atalig Pua, 44, pleaded guilty to indecent exposure in the second degree and criminal contempt of court.
Superior Court Associate Judge Ramona V. Manglona accepted Pua’s plea and sentenced him to six months in prison, all suspended except nine days, with credit for the time he already served in jail.
Manglona placed the defendant on one year of probation and ordered him to pay $225 in fine and probation and court fees.
Pua was directed to perform 40 hours of community work service and write a letter of apology to the nurse. During the probationary period, he is prohibited from consuming any alcoholic beverages.
The Attorney General’s Office charged the defendant with indecent exposure and disturbing the peace for exposing his genitals to a CHC nurse on Sept. 21, 2005.
Pua was visiting his wife at CHC that time. The nurse was attending to the defendant’s wife.
The AGO then filed another case charging the defendant with criminal contempt of court for violating court order that allowed him to be at CHC from 9am to 11am.
On Oct. 20, 2005, Pua was seen at CHC at 9pm.
Pua signed a plea agreement with the government and entered a guilty plea.
