Gina Sablan leads women’s BRS
January Pepsi Queen of the Lanes Gina Sablan currently leads the Bowling Ranking System for women compiled by the Saipan Bowling Association.
A first place finish (80 points) in the season opener last January and two more strong performances in the February (60) and March (50) roll-offs has Sablan leading the women with a total of 190 points.
A mere 18 points off the pace is February and January winner Rosalinda “Ron” Cal with 172 points. She received 80 points for each of her victories in the monthly bowling competition and 12 points in her January stint.
Multi-titled bowling veteran Emi Williams sits in third place in the BRS with 145 total points. She got 75 points in the February edition of the roll-off and another 70 points in the March Queen of the Lanes.
Marie Manansala and Gloria Omechelang complete the Top 5 with 135 and 110 points, respectively. Manansala was credited for 25 points in the January roll-off and 70 and 40 points in the last two editions of the Queen of the Lanes.
Omechelang, for her part, had 20 points in January, another 30 in March, and 60 points more in the March roll-off of the Pacific Trading Co.-sponsored and SBA-organized monthly competition.
The rest of the Top 10 BRS for women are occupied by Yolanda Villavicencio (102 points), Elena Soll (99), Rizza Hensley (84), reigning yearly Queen of the Lanes Diane Camacho75), and Rita Palacios (75).
The BRS was setup to determine the top players that will compete in the season-ending Queen of the Lanes set for early January 2006. It was also implemented to choose the bowlers that will represent the CNMI in regional and international competitions.
