AGO’s Criminal Division burglarized
The Attorney General’s Office’s Criminal Division, located next to the police headquarters in Susupe, was burglarized and at least two computers were stolen, the Saipan Tribune learned yesterday.
Department of Public Safety spokesman Ken Concepcion disclosed to Saipan Tribune that the burglary was discovered Thursday morning.
Concepcion said he has no information as to what specific items were stolen and that he is hoping he will get the complete report by today.
Police Maj. Edward Manalili, chief of the DPS Criminal Investigation Bureau, said one of the AGO civilian staff who was reporting to work discovered the break-in.
Manalili said the burglar or burglars gained entry by damaging one of the windows of the building.
At least two computers were missing, the major said, adding that he could not provide details as he has not seen the report yet.
It was not clear yet as to which particular offices in the AGO the computers were stolen from.
The CIB chief, however, appealed to anyone who may have information about the suspect or suspects to immediately call his office or the Crime Stoppers hotline.
DPS also alerted the public who might have seen anyone selling the AGO’s computers.
Recently, the office of the Micronesian Legal Services located near the AGO’s Criminal Division was also burglarized. Stolen were a computer desktop and a laptop computer.
The burglar or burglars managed to gain entry by damaging the window.
There are strong indications that the suspect or suspects in the two cases are the same, police said.
