While Saipan is still bracing for the packed house at Laolao Bay Golf Resort when the Pacific region’s premier golfing—the 11th Annual Tournament of Champions—returns, tournament organizers continued to add value to the two-day affair when Microl Toyota agreed to offer strikers and slicers a chance at taking home a brand new car.

A field of nearly 300 duffers is expected to descend upon one of the CNMI’s most lush leas this summer, but before the opening drives leave the tees on Aug. 5 and 6 organizers are accumulating support from the business community to make the TOC a hit.

As the latest partner to join the TOC, Microl Toyota sponsored one of the hole-in-one prizes for the annual tournament by putting a 2007 Toyota Camry LE on the table, valued at $24,199.

Tournament coordinator Ben Babauta was happy to hear that Toyota signed on, and Microl-Toyota general manager Doug Brennan was just a pleased to continue sponsoring the TOC.

“Microl Toyota and many other island businesses have been proud TOC sponsors for many years. The TOC is Saipan’s premier golfing event,” said Brennan.

“The TOC is also a great tribute to many in the Saipan business community. It shows what can be accomplished when people work together to achieve a common goal. Not only does the TOC bring out the best golfers around, it is the primary support for the Saipan Beautification Fund. As good corporate citizens, the staff and management at Microl enjoy being able to give back to island we love,” said Brennan.

Since its inception, TOC has given over $400,000 to the Beautification Fund which has gone directly to the improvements of the tree-lined traffic medians that stretch from Garapan to the Nikko Hotel Saipan, as well as the recent revitalization of the Garapan special district.

In addition to the pair of eye-pleasing projects, the TOC also contributed funds for the Paseo de Marianas, the lighting of the Beach Pathway, and a number of other beautification projects.
