Castro, Manalo, Joseph lead Major division

Vince Castro of the Twins and Anthony Manalo and Daylinne Joseph have been on top of their game since the season opener and currently lead the Major Division of the Saipan Little League.

According to statistics provided by Little League officials, Castro and Manalo are currently the top hitters that have showcased their skills at the plate, while Joseph has been phenomenal on the mound.

Castro and Manalo share the No. 1 spot in batting as the two have hit safely in nine out of 13 plate appearances for averages of .692, with Castro also ranking second in doubles with four.

Jonan Villagomez of McDonald’s follow as he too has nine hits after getting to the plate 14 times, and is tied for third in the runs batted in department after plating nine runners.

Roky Matagolai of the Ol’Aces and Anthony Salas of the Patriots are next in line as both sport identical averages of .615 after going 8-for-13.

Rico Luzama of the Ol’Aces has gone 7-for-12 for an average of .583 while Rocco Reyes of Matrix follows with a .579, average courtesy of 11 hits in 19 at bats. Reyes has been busy as he also leads the league with 13 runs, six doubles, and has had a fair share of clutch hits as he sports a league-best 13 RBIs. He is also tied for No. 1 with three triples.

Rounding up the sluggers with top averages are Brian Camacho of the Patriots (.545), Diego Camacho of the Twins (.538), Nathan Guerrero of McDonald’s (.500), Benjamin Hocog of Kagman 1-2-3 (.500), Jonakin Deleon Guerrero of the Patriots (.500), Zachary Aldan of the Twins (.500), Eloy Cruz of McDonald’s (.500), and Alvander Pua of Matrix (.500).

Justin Kintol ranks second in runs with 11 and Ignacio Benavente tied with Reyes with three triples.

Richard Dela Cruz, Leroy Regis, Marsnjo Wabol, and Chrito Kladikm lead the league with two home runs apiece, while Dela Cruz is second in RBIs with 11. Diego Camacho also ranks among RBI leaders with nine.

Meanwhile, Joseph has been the most dominating force on the mound as the ace hurler holds a 2-0 record and has allowed just three earned runs in 11.1 innings of work for an earned run average of 1.59.

Peter Tenorio of McDonald’s (3-0) is second with an ERA of 1.88 after giving up just five runs in 16 innings, while Brian Camacho (2-0) has a 2.26 ERA, allowing just five runs in 13.1 innings.

Rounding up the top pitchers are Lamarc Iguel of the Braves (2.82), Richard Dela Cruz of Kagman 1-2-3 (2.93), Ignacio Benavente of Kagman (3.29), Harry Nakamura of Matrix (4.24), Kevin Yamada of Ol’Aces (5.50), and Alvander Pua (5.84).

Nakamura has the most strikeouts after fanning 39 hitters, while Tenorio follows with 37. Benavente and Dela Cruz have also sent 26 hitters back to their dugouts via strikes.
