The Superior Court has imposed a 132-day prison term on a man who was caught stealing a case of beer and four bottles of liquor from Pacific Gardenia’s Sunset Bar and Grill in Chalan Kanoa.

Associate Judge Juan T. Lizama sentenced the 26-year-old Jerry Derson Ramon to one year in prison, all suspended except for 132 days, for theft.

Lizama, however, gave Ramon credit for the 132 days he has already served in jail after he was arrested.

Lizama ordered the defendant to pay a $100 fine, plus court assessment and probation fees.

During the one-year probation, Ramon is required to perform 120 hours of community work service. He was also directed to write a letter of apology to Pacific Gardenia and submit to counseling evaluation at the Community Guidance Center.

The Attorney General’s Office charged the defendant with burglary and theft. He and counsel assistant public defender Angela Marie Krueger signed a plea agreement with the government.

He pleaded guilty to theft. The burglary charge was dismissed.

The agreement stated that on Nov. 16, 2005 Ramon stole alcoholic beverage owned by the Pacific Gardenia’s Sunset Bar and Grill.

Police report stated that Ramon broke into the Bar and Grill and stole a case of Budlight bottles and four bottles of liquor in a cooler. The defendant was caught after he went back to the Bar and Grill, apparently to get some more.
