Half-day session today at OES
The Oleai Elementary School will have a half-day class session today, March 31, 2006. Students will be released at noon. Please pick up your child/ren promptly at noon if they are car riders. The 3rd quarter report card/conference day is from 4pm-6pm. We encourage all parents and guardians to come and meet with your child’s homeroom teacher to pick up their report cards and also view our Science Fair in the cafeteria. (PR)

Man’amko fundraising activities
The man’amko will be having a couple of fundraising activities schedule for this Saturday, April 1, 2006.
First is the “car wash” at McDonald’s Middle Road in Chalan Laulau, 9am to 2pm; the second is the “lunch sale” at the 13th Fishermen Memorial, Beach Road Garapan, 10am to 2pm.

Free Praxis review
Any Public School System teachers who are interested in taking a free 40-hour review course to prepare for the PRAXIS II Examination in Social Studies: Content Knowledge, during the upcoming Easter break (April 10-15, 2006) may contact Vince Riley at 234-3856 (H), or 234-3690 Ext. 1733 (W), or email him at vriley2@yahoo.com.
This course will be sponsored by the Public School System, if sufficient enrollment (20 students) is reached. The instructor has received a Recognition of Excellence certificate from the Educational Testing Service for his performance in this exam, and is interested in helping others prepare for a successful exam. SVES Canary Festival set
To assist SVES with its dwindling operational cost, the San Vicente Elementary School and its PTA will be having a festival to celebrate Spring Break and raise funds to procure air conditioners for at least four classrooms that are without one and other maintenance needs.
The Canary Family Festival will be held on April 8, 2006, from 9am to 4pm. “This event is a fundraising event for our school. Please come out and support our students by joining us for this annual family fun day,” said David Dlg. Atalig, SVES PTA vice president.
The school expects all of its 765 students and about 1,000 other community members to participate on this day. All proceeds from this event will go to support the SVES operational and maintenance cost.

SAES registration set
The San Antonio Elementary School announces that the registration for School Year 2006-2007 will begin for all incoming kindergarten and new first graders. Registration will start on Monday, April 03 from 8am to 4pm and end on Friday, April 28.
Students entering kindergarten must be five years old by end of August 2006 and students entering first grade must be six years old by end of August 2006. For transfer-in students into San Antonio Elementary School-grades second to sixth-registration will be from June to July 2006.
Documents required for registration are as follows:
1. Birth certificate (from the court)
2. Schoolentrance health certificate
3. Current school accident or health insurance coverage
4. Residency map
5. Legal adoption/guardianship documents (if applicable)
6. Valid CNMI entry permit (If applicable)
7. Transfer-in/withdrawal forms and report card from previous school for transfer-in students.

Memorial Day preparations
On May 29, 2006, Memorial Day, the CNMI will be paying tribute to members of the U.S. Armed Forces who have passed on.
This is to let all Memorial Day Committee members and all interested in being a part of the committee know that we will begin to meet every Tuesday at 9am starting on April 4 at the Office of Military/Veterans Affairs on Capitol Hill building 1365. Everyone is encouraged and invited to attend.

English Placement Test at NMC
The Northern Marianas College will be conducting English Placement Tests on the following schedule:
Summer Semester 2006
Wednesday April 5 Room D-1 1pm-4pm
Friday April 7 Room D-1 5pm-8pm
Those taking the test should bring a valid photo ID and pencils
There is a $25 fee for the English Placement Test that must be paid in advance at NMC’s Finance Office (Monday to Friday, 9am – 4pm). Students will not be admitted to the testing room without proof of payment—a receipt for either the placement test fee or the NMC application fee. This $25 fee is applicable to the NMC application for all students.
