A Tanapag resident complained to the police Thursday that someone allegedly stole his cow, slaughtered it, cut off its legs, and abandoned the body at a beach side in Lower Base.

Department of Public Safety spokesman Ken Concepcion said yesterday that Pedro Tegita reported to police that his cow was stolen on March 13 and that he found the already decomposed body just this Thursday.

Concepcion said that, according to Tegita, his cow disappeared from the place where it was tied near the Tanapag cemetery.

The spokesman said Tegita received a call from a friend, stating that someone found his cow at the beach side near the Mayor’s Office compound in Lower Base.

Tegita sent his son to check whether it was their stolen cow. The son later returned and confirmed it was their animal.

The son said it appeared that someone had slaughtered the cow, took the legs, and left the rest of the body to rot.

Tegita said they are clueless as to who stole and slaughtered the animal.

Concepcion said police placed the case under further pending investigation.

“Anyone who has information about the incident, please call the DPS Criminal Investigation Bureau at 664-9000 or call the Crime Stoppers Hotline at 234-7272,” the spokesman said. (Ferdie de la Torre)
