Tinian Dynasty welcomes influx of casinos
Tinian Dynasty Hotel & Casino is unfazed by the influx of other casino investments on Tinian, viewing this development as one that will enhance the island as a tourist destination.
TDHC general manager Tom Liu said that competition is a challenge for Tinian Dynasty. However, Tinian Dynasty will also benefit from the investments.
“It will enhance the destination as a world-renowned resort,” Liu said. “We welcome the investors as soon as possible. Investments will be good for everybody.”
Tinian Dynasty’s casino general manager, Ken Barberis, said the new investments will enhance TDHC’s business. “We’re lucky that we’re here first.”
Besides Tinian Dynasty Hotel & Casino, four other investors want to put up casino establishments on the island, including Bridge Investment Group, which is embarking on a $300 million casino hotel project; Marianas Resort Development Co. Inc., which plans to build a new $170-million casino and golf course project; and Baltimore-based Cordish Company, which will invest a minimum of $200 million for a casino and golf course project.
Earlier news reports also said that a fifth company, the name of which has yet to be publicly disclosed, expressed interest in investing in a casino venture on Tinian. (John Ravelo)
