With the intention to provide funds for the CNMI’s only college institution, organizers of the 4th Annual Northern Marinas College Foundation Open disclosed yesterday that they are targeting to raise $50,000 from this year’s tournament.

NMC president Tony Deleon Guerrero disclosed the goal to the media yesterday during a press conference at Hyatt Regency Saipan’s Kili Café.

The NMC Foundation is a non-profit organization created by NMC Board of Regents. NMC Foundation is our fundraising arm at NMC. It’s made up of members from business community…volunteering to help generate alternative funding sources for the college to cover a lot of our institutional needs that are not included in the NMC budget that we get subsidized from the CNMI government,” Deleon Guerrero said.

The tournament will be held on April 22 at the Laolao Bay Golf Resort west course with shotgun start scheduled for 7am.

Interested golfers can avail of the early bird fee of $85, but must register by April 15 to do so. Golfers registering after April 15 will be required to pay a $100 fee.

“So come on early birds and sign. There are limited slots. The first 150 golfers are in,” said organizer Ben Babauta.

The tournament will feature competition in six flights—Championship, A, B, C, Women’s, and Seniors—with each of the top three finishers in each flight receiving cash and a trophy.

First place winners will pocket $500 plus a round-trip ticket to anywhere Continental Micronesian flies except Honolulu and Narita. Second place winners get $300 while $200 will be awarded to third place winners.

The tournament also features several hole-in-one prizes, such as a Hyundai Accent courtesy of Triple J Motors on Hole No. 3, $25,000 from Bank of Hawaii on Hole No. 7, a 2007 Toyota Camry courtesy of Microl Toyota on Hole No. 13, and $25,000 from Aon Insurance.
