The Pacific Resources for Education and Learning has just released the Pacific Early Literacy Resource Kit for teachers and parents. The kit includes lesson plans, professional development resources, reading assessment materials, and curriculum boosters all aimed at providing the optimal learning environment for early readers.

The U.S. Department of Education’s Office of English Language Acquisition Newsline cites the kit as a work of national importance. “…PREL’s work…found beneficial to support literacy teachers in their efforts to improve student literacy achievement….”

It contains materials and products tested in classrooms throughout the U.S.-affiliated Pacific, as well as resources developed by PREL as the Pacific Regional Educational Laboratory dedicated to reading and literacy in schools.

The Pacific Early Literacy Resource Kit is available to teachers and administrators on PREL’s website at http://www.prel.org/toolkit/index.htm. (PR)
