CUC considers revival of Garapan satellite branch
The Commonwealth Utilities Corp. is considering the possibility of opening up a satellite branch in Garapan to improve its service to paying customers.
Anthony C. Guerrero, acting CUC executive director, in an interview with the Saipan Tribune, said the branch is important to make it easier for customers to make payments.
Guerrero, however, pointed out that they are still discussing such plan.
With a Garapan branch, he said, customers from the north and central sides of the island would not need to come over to the CUC main office in Dandan.
“In addition to that, customers often forget that they can make payments at the banks,” he said.
There used to be a CUC satellite branch in Garapan but this was closed down last year.
The acting executive director said that, in terms of applying for water and power, they are trying to limit that to the CUC customers service in Dandan.
“Slowly, in the next few weeks and months, we are going to come up with more changes…,” he said.
Guerrero reminded customers that everything they need to do with respect to hooking up and making payments are already back in Dandan.
CUC offices have been relocated from La Fiesta Mall in San Roque back to the Joeten Dandan building.
Guerrero said to run CUC now is very challenging, considering its limited resources.
“Our intention is to continue to improve our water and power systems. The Water Task Force is focusing on the water side, the state of emergency and the administration are focusing on the power side. I think we are going to get better down the line,” Guerrero said.
“So even with regards to the wastewater issue, we are being mandated now, not only by the administration but by the federal government to obey… we have to comply with certain issues. It’s not going to happen overnight [but] we’re going to get better,” he added.
