PTI Jam Shooters staved off Los Cabos’ attempt to assume the top spot in the 2006 CNMI Billiard Spring Season by equaling the second-ranked team’s point total Wednesday night at Shooters Sports Bar.

Jam Shooters rebounded from last week’s loss to cellar dweller Ballers by beating No. 3 Hyatt Pomec, 10-8. The win maintained the PTI-backed team’s lead over Los Cabos, 102-96. Hyatt Pomec ended the evening with 95 points.

For its part, Los Cabos reached the aforementioned point total by exacting a 10-3 rout of Ballers at the Garapan sports bar and watering hole. The loss dropped Ballers to 67.5 and last place in the team standings.

The only other match Wednesday at Shooters Sports Bar saw Destroyers annihilate Navy Hill Boys, 10-4.5, to shoot up to a tie with Hyatt Pomec with 95 points. The jarring defeat dropped Navy Hill to seventh place with 74.5 points.

Corner Pocket hosted one match Wednesday and it saw Ballers II upset fifth-place Pool Junkies in a score of 6.5-5. The win allowed Ballers II to move up to sixth place with 75 points, while the loss gave Pool Junkies 87 points with only two weeks to go in the season.
