SGA returns this Sunday

There were plenty of putts, pitches, and shanks that found beaches during last weekend’s NMC Foundation Open when some of the area’s finest flocked to the fairways, and the top-ranked action continues this Sunday as the Saipan Golf Association searches for its April Ace of the Month.

With only 24 slots available, the competition is sure to be stiff as SGA secretary Larry Guerrero said that there will be limited availability when some of the island’s top strikers tee it up this Sunday, April 30, at the Kingfisher Golf Links to vie for the low score and the SGA’s top billing on Saipan’s cliff line course.

To date, Ed Manibusan (January), Matt Chargualaf (February), and Rick Kautz (March) have already shored up their slots in the yearend classic, the Ace of Aces, this December, and Kautz currently boasts the SGA’s lowest net score of the year with a 62.

As a little added incentive, Guerrero said that the SGA will award $25 to any of the duffers who manage to best his score this weekend, and the secretary thinks that he has a chance.

“It’s going to be fun and I think I’m going to win,” said Guerrero.

In addition to all of the bragging rights, the SGA is offering a post outing awards banquet but in order to join the SGA’s best this weekend, Guerrero recommends that all golfers call either him or SGA president Ben Aldan to confirm their slots. All who make it in must be present for the 7:45am show time for the announcement of the pairings and briefing, as well as for the 8:15am go time.

For more information about the SGA or any of its events, contact Aldan by calling 234-3176, or Guerrero at 256-1052.
