MRA taking on Tinian

Once again it’s time for Tinian to get a show as the rough and ready riders of the Marianas Racing Association are returning to Tinian after a yearlong hiatus for the San Francisco De Borja Fiesta.

When they get there the Saipan-based riders will have a whole new layout to conquer as the folks across the channel erected a new track near the seaport that will challenge all who dare the double jumps and whoop the whoops.

The MRA will be buzzing in the dirt for two days of racing over the weekend, but before they clear the table tops they will have to clear some of the deepest seas in the world. Unlike their friends, family, and luggage, the riders will not be able to accompany their bikes on the Tinian ferry. Instead they will have to load their two- and four-wheeled machines onto the SN5 cargo vessel at the Lower Base docks on Wednesday morning.

Those who fail to load their bikes midweek at 9am will be out of luck because they will not be able to stow them in the overhead bins on any flight.

The Tinian riders will not have to worry about the shipping, but they will have to register with the MRA to participate in next weekend’s festivities when the team from Cowtown takes on the crew from cow central.

For directions to the docks, contact MRA vice president Henry Camacho by calling 287-2372 or MRA secretary Eleanor Cepeda by calling 287-5023.
