The U.S. Navy held its recruit graduation ceremony on April 14, 2006, for Division 132 out of the Recruit Training Command in Great Lakes, Illinois. Among the proud sailors that graduated that day included Seaman Eric C. Leon Guerrero.

Seaman Leon Guerrero is the son of Juan A. and Juana C. Leon Guerrero of Saipan.

Leon Guerrero, a recent graduate of Marianas High School, successfully completed the U.S. Navy’s basic recruit and Naval warfare training. Undergoing weeks of extensive training, Leon Guerrero endured the rite-of-passage in becoming a sailor in the nation’s modern Navy.

“In times of uncertainty and the on-going global war on terrorism, I congratulate and honor…Leon Guerrero in choosing the path and completing training in the U.S. Navy. [He], along with the hundreds of soldiers and sailors from the Northern Marianas currently serving at home and abroad, have become America’s model of volunteerism and patriotism,” said Washington Rep. Pete A. Tenorio.

“In our nation’s time of need, our men and women from the Northern Marianas continually prove the example of selfless-sacrifice, dedication, and loyalty to preserve our American way of life. I have no doubt that…Leon Guerrero will continue the pride and tradition of our islands into his career in the U.S. Navy.” (PR)
