MRA prepping for the big show
With most of the calendar races in the bag and riders like Hanky Camacho, Cuki Alvarez, and Steve “Weevo” Sablan returning from Tinian with strong performances and first place finishes, the Marianas Racing Association is taking a break for the rest of the month to prepare for this summer’s International Race.
After riders put the Cowtown Raceway Park through the roughest and toughest two- and four-wheel action in the CNMI, MRA officials decided to hold off on any events prior to the July spectacular while the highly trained course makers at ERRICO recap and repair the facility.
While the sound of high-revving motors in Marpi will be muffled for a while, the track will roar to life later this month when the MRA holds its next general membership meeting on May 28 at 3pm.
The club with adrenaline pulsing through its veins will open the track to members at that time to allow them to get a feel for the course and the home field advantage before some of the best riders in the region do battle on the Marianas’ northernmost table top on Saturday, July 8, and Sunday, July 9.
