The interim 9-ball tournament at Shooters Sports Bar & Grill continued Wednesday night with Roger “The Ghost” Espiritu dominating the 12-player field en route to winning the competition for the second straight week.

Espiritu laid waste to all his challengers in the preliminary round then faced off against a vastly improved Mario Diola in the quarters. Diola tried his best but ultimately bowed out against the sweet-shooting Pacific Oriental Inc. employee.

In the other semifinal matches, Erwin Gomez upset Jerry Soriano and Joey Lucido defeated Eric Caisip.

With Gomez waiting in the wings, Lucido faced off against Espiritu with Espiritu holding his ground to play Gomez for all the marbles.

For the second time in seven days, there was no denying the player they have dubbed “The Ghost” as Espiritu one again showed that he was still in charge by taking the victory.

In related news, organizer Fred Prinz said the newly renamed Budweiser-Budlight Billiard League received eight team entries as of last Wednesday night.

However, not all of the team rosters have been submitted yet and thus the deadline for submissions has been extended until next Wednesday, May 31.

Prinz also said the new season will start on June 31 instead of June 7 as earlier reported.
