RP Independence Day tourney on June 18
Fil-Taga Golfers Association will holds its 108th Philippine Independence Day Golf Tournament on June 18 at the Coral Ocean Point Golf Resort.
Like previous years, the tournament will have two categories—a member and a guest division.
Champions for each category will receive $300 cash and a handsome trophy, runner-up gets $200 and also a trophy, while third-place winners take home $100 and a trophy.
Aside from the cash prizes for the top winners, Fil-Taga also is giving lucky golfers the opportunity to earn more in three $10,000 hole-in-one prizes sponsored by Home Depot.
Fil-Taga will also award prizes to the closest to the pin and will raffle off many more prizes during its banquet set after the tournament at the COP poolside
The 108th Philippine Independence Day Golf Tournament will have an 11:30am tee time and a 9am show time. Entry fee is $100 and will entitle participants to free greens and the aforementioned dinner banquet.
Entry forms can be picked up and submitted at Unit 4, Saipan Plaza Building in Gualo Rai. For more information, call Rene Domanais at 233-9473.
Last year, Sen. Pete Reyes won the members division after besting 28 other Fil-Taga duffers with his net score of 66, while youngster Leina Kim put everyone to shame in the guests division, as the then 13-year-old wunderkind fired a net score of 61.
Established in 1993, Fil-Taga hosts monthly tournaments, which operate under a computer-controlled handicap system that creates parity among players in the A and B Flights. Regular tournaments are scheduled once a month, normally every third Sunday. Green fees are in the $35 to $40 price range for most tournaments.
