Swearing in of new Youth Congress set this Saturday

Newly elected members of the 9th Youth Congress will be sworn to office this Saturday, Oct. 21, 2006.

The inauguration ceremony will be held starting 10am at the House of Representatives chamber on Capitol Hill.

The new youth senators, who have been undergoing a series of orientation meetings since Oct. 7, will take their oath and elect their officers during the ceremony.

An inaugural mass was held for the new Youth Congress last Saturday, Oct. 14, 2006, at the Mount Carmel Cathedral.

The youth senators, including nine incumbents, were chosen by their peers in elections held Sept. 18 and Oct. 4.

The elected leaders from the schools are Genesis Ranjo from Calvary Christian Academy, Matthew Kabua Blanco from Grace Christian Academy, Anita Hofschneider from Marianas Baptist Academy, Rachel Parungao Reyes from Marianas High School, Matthew Owen Deleon Guerrero from Mount Carmel School, Seung Hwan Oh from Northern Marianas Academy, Erinelle Barcinas from Rota High School, Henry Chan from Saipan International High School, Dwane Kaipat Davis from Saipan Southern High School, Tracy Babauta from Kagman High School, Joseph M. Hocog from Tinian Jr./Sr. High School, and Joseph Leong-Aguon, Lyrard Tenorio, and Edwin Diaz from Northern Marianas College.

Precinct representatives are Nicole Sonia Castro, Juan DLG Pinaula, and Leangie Sablan from Precinct I; Mark S. Nuique from Precinct II; Alana Mae Leon Guerrero, Naomi C. Sablan, and Lupe Marie Kaipat from Precinct III; Naomi DLG. Benjamin from Precinct IV; Nikita P. Mendiola from Precinct V; and Jurina Philips from Precinct VI.
