MHS sets College, Career Fair
Marianas High School will hold its first College and Career Fair tomorrow, Oct. 26, to Thursday, Oct. 27, from 8am to 12:30pm at the MHS Gym.
This event will cater to MHS’ junior and senior students who will be graduating soon.
School counselor Grace Sablan said MHS faculty member Tyce Mister has been providing the same opportunity in his Cooperative Education Program class.
Sablan said this event would be open to all students in their junior and senior years. “Our goal is that it will become an annual event,” she added.
The objective of the event, said Sablan, is to better equip and prepare their students with “the three Cs—Choices, Careers, College—and all the readily available opportunities that are out there to further themselves individually, professionally, academically, and most especially to prepare them for the real world.”
Some private and government agencies that have confirmed their participation in the event are Aqua Resort Club, Fiesta Resort & Spa Saipan, Hyatt Regency Saipan, Pacific Island Club, Saipan Grand Hotel, Department of Public Safety’s LEAP &D.A.R.E. programs, Commonwealth Development Authority, Division of Environmental Quality, Office of the Vocational Rehabilitation, Commonwealth Utilities Corp., American Corp., and Community Guidance Center’s Prevention Office among many others.
The U.S. Army, U.S. Marines, and U.S. Navy are also participating.
The Northern Marianas College, Seattle University, University of Guam, University of Hawaii, and Hawaii Pacific University will also be there for prospective undergraduate students from the largest high school in the CNMI.
Joining Sablan in the organizing committee are fellow Counseling Department counselors Hazel Tudela, Sarona Vivao, and Chris Cabrera.
