Man charged for alleged theft of 10 scuba tanks
The Attorney General’s Office filed yesterday a criminal case against a man who allegedly stole 10 scuba tanks.
Chief Prosecutor Jeffery Warfield Sr. charged Shaun Matsutaro with theft.
Matsutaro was summoned to appear and answer the charge in the Superior Court on Dec. 4 at 9am.
Warfield alleged that on Oct. 23, 2006 the defendant stole from Junichi Otake 10 scuba tanks valued at $1,000.
No other details were given in the information.
In other court news, the AGO filed charges yesterday against an ex-convict who beat up a man with a metal pipe.
Warfield charged 27-year-old Alexander Igisomar Laniyo with assault with a dangerous weapon, assault and battery, and disturbing the peace.
The prosecutor stated that on Oct. 29, 2006, Laniyo assaulted Robert Richard with a metal pipe. Laniyo also allegedly punched, kicked, and hit Richard with a beer can.
Police said the victim suffered lacerations on the right eyebrow and contusions to the back.
A detective stated in court papers that Richard was at a residence of John Pua in Gualo Rai drinking alcoholic beverages with a certain Isaac.
Laniyo later came holding a can of beer and stated he was looking for someone to beat up. The defendant then allegedly jumped on Richard and beat him up. [I][B](Ferdie de la Torre)
