Kautz, Lin, Wong top Lexus golf
Fifty-five of the Marianas’ Lexus owners teed off last Friday for the 4th Annual Lexus Tournament at the Laolao Bay Golf Resort, but only three of them came away with the top prizes in the one-day golf event.
Rick Kautz, whose company owns two Lexus models in Guam, was hailed the tournament’s low gross king after the mountain of a man tamed the greens and fairways of the Kagman venue with an 18-hole best gross score of two-over par 74 (37-37).
Ever humble in victory, Kautz said everything seemed to work for him Friday—from his precision putting to his long drives—and he thanked Microl and its parent company, Atkin Kroll in Guam, for once again hosting a great golf tournament.
For his accomplishment, Kautz took home a Premium golf bag, a putting wedge, and a box of Titleist golf balls.
James Lin, meanwhile, bested a couple of Pacific Games veterans to earn the low net title. The local businessman fired a handicap-aided total of 70.60 to finish ahead of Suva South Pacific Games stalwarts Joji Taguchi (71.20) and Nick Sablan (71.6).
Lim came away with a Premium golf bag, a putter, a box of Titleist golf balls, and an oil change certificate.
Both Taguchi and Sablan, for their part, received a golf bag each with Taguchi winning a $100 dinner gift certificate and Sablan getting an oil change certificate.
Linda Wong was without peer in the women’s low gross, as the lovely lass came away with a gross score of 90 after needing 46 shots to finish the front nine and another 44 to complete the back nine.
Atkins Kroll Lexus manager Dave Toves said the automobile dealership, year in and year out, looks forward to hosting the Lexus Tournament. He said it is his company’s way of saying “thank you” to the hundreds of Lexus owners in both Guam and the CNMI.
Toves also said that he was quite happy with the 98-percent turnout, as 55 of the 57 Lexus owners invited showed up for a day in the greens.
Atkins Kroll general manager and vice president Dan Camacho also thanked Lexus owners who took part in the tournament. He also assured that Microl will continue to be a big part of Saipan’s economy despite the current crisis.
Other top Microl big wigs that were present in the tournament were Microl general manager Douglas Brennan, Microl Service and Body Shop manager Abner Venus, Business manager Glen V. Perez, and Rent-A-Car and Leasing manager Pinky dela Cruz.
