Frank ‘The Crank’ invited to fight in Philippines
After winning his fifth straight fight in the recent “Trench Warz IV: Enter the Octagon,” local boy Frank “The Crank” Camacho caught the attention of many, including a fighting event in the Philippines.
The Trench Tech Purebred Saipan fighter has been invited to compete in the Universal Reality Combat Championships to be held on Dec. 2.
According to Trench Tech’s Cuki Alvarez, Camacho will be facing his toughest opponent to date as he battle undisputed middleweight champion Fritz Rodriguez, who also enters with a perfect 3-0 win-loss record.
“This is going to be a big test for Frank…you’re not a middleweight champion for nothing,” Alvarez said during an interview.
It will be Camacho’s international debut as all his five wins have come competing in the four editions of Trench Warz, as well as Spike 22 Fight Night on Guam earlier this year.
Alvarez said the exposure will definitely serve as a boost for Camacho’s career, no matter what the outcome.
“Frank has got the potential, and I think everyone here sees that,” Alvarez said. “This will be his first international fight and the first time he’ll be fighting away from the Marianas, but no matter what happens, when he comes out, he’ll be a better fighter. The experience will be really big for him.”
Alvarez disclosed that Camacho will be faced with something different than what’s found in the local mix martial arts scene as he will have to trade the three five-minute rounds battles to a tough two 10-minute rounds challenge.
With that, Alvarez said Camacho’s training will remain the same, with the only change being that he will train for the 10-minute rounds.
“That’s the only thing that’s different, but Frank has stamina for sure. So we’ll be training the same way, only we will go two rounds and increase the time so he can get accustomed to it,” Alvarez said.
Camacho made his MMA debut in November last year when he defeated Bernie “The Shadow of Death” Neth in the inaugural Trench Warz.
He then returned on February of this year and beat Mike Camacho in “Trench Warz II” Caged In. Camacho then traveled to Guam for the Spike 22 event, and had a tough fight but won against Ace Mantanona before returning to Saipan and beating Robert Palacios in “Trench Warz III: Commotion.”
On Oct. 28, Camacho fought in a battle of undefeated fighters and kept his perfect record intact, while handing Guam’s Troy Munoz his first loss in “Trench Warz IV: Enter the Octagon.”
