Dayna B. Reyes, a member of the National Deans List at the Community College of Southern Nevada, has been nominated to serve as collegiate scholar in the 2007 International Scholar Laureate Program Delegation on Business.

Through this program, Reyes will be joining a select group of exceptional college students from across America for an extraordinary pre-professional experience as she selects a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to visit some of the most exotic nations of the world. She has the opportunity to select an experience at either Australia for 10 days, China for 12 days, or Europe for 10 days.

“I can assure you that this opportunity will have a tremendous impact upon Dayna’s future,” said Marguerite Regan, Ph.D, who is the Director of Curriculum of the International Scholar Laureate Program.

She said that Reyes’ participation in the International Scholar Laureate Program Delegation on Business will place her in the ranks of the elite as she pursues her professional career goals. The visit will enable her to see cultural and business hubs where she will observe international business, economics, and trade relations from the unique perspective of the world’s powerful players.

Should Reyes decide to visit Australia, she will be able to go behind the scenes of the most influential business centers and understand why Australia is a sophisticated and international business force that it is today.

Regan said that Dayna will confer with representatives from the U.S. Consulate to explore how the U.S. is fostering free trade in Australia, building international goodwill, and opening doors for U.S. businesses in the promising Pacific Rim region.

A visit to China will begin in Beijing, China’s capital and political and cultural center, and then to the city of Xi-an, followed by Shanghai, and finally in Tibet. In Beijing, a planned executive briefing will take place at the American Chamber of Commerce to provide a keen understanding of the difference between Chinese and American business protocols. Reyes will also have better knowledge of what lies ahead for China’s business and trade development with the United States.

In her spare time, Reyes will go to the Great Wall of China, the Forbidden City, and the historic Tian’anmen Square. While in Tibet, she will visit the official residence of the Dalai Lama and Norbulingka, his summer residence, and explore the folklore of the Tibetan culture.

The trip to Central and Eastern Europe will bring Reyes to Budapest, Prague, and Vienna. In Budapest, she will deepen her understanding of the global business issues transforming the world economy. Reyes will have talks with international business representatives regarding the challenges facing global companies, such as advertising, joint ventures, and product development.

According to Regan, a visit to Prague, the Czech Republic’s bustling commercial capital, will allow Reyes to examine trade issues in product expansion and brand preservation in the heart of the European Union with the nation’s most recognized brands. Through this, she will explore how businesses are striving to increase sales and revenue while maintaining the quality of their products in today’s global marketplace. In Vienna, she will visit Vienna’s premiere business school and meet with top officials at the headquarters of OPEC, the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries. Reyes will be given the option to stay an additional three days to explore the enchanting city of Venice, “the city of canals.”

Dayna Reyes is the daughter of former congressman Juan S. Reyes and Rita Benavente and currently resides in Las Vegas, Nevada.
