TAMUNING, Guam—MPULSE, mobile phone subsidiary of GTA, announced that effective today, its GSM subscribers are able to roam when they travel to the mainland U.S. and Hawaii with the U.S.’s largest and number one wireless carrier, Cingular. “We’re pleased to introduce roaming on our GSM network and making our service a truly mobile experience for MPULSE customers. The U.S. mainland and Hawaii were priority areas to activate our roaming service as Guam residents travel regularly to these destinations. Being able to make or receive calls on a mobile phone when overseas is not just a convenience or luxury but for many users, a necessity nowadays,” says Andrew Gayle Jr., vice president and general manager, MPULSE.

Tom Camacho, GTA vice president of Product Management further added, “The roaming feature has been activated for all existing subscribers on our GSM network. MPULSE customers will not have to call to have the roaming feature activated. However, customers should ensure that their handset network roaming parameter is set to ’automatic’ so their handsets will search and register with our roaming partner’s network.”

When making calls in the U.S. or Hawaii to Guam or other destinations, MPULSE customers need to press and hold the 0 key which turns to a “+” sign and enter the country code, area code, and the telephone number. In addition, MPULSE introduces a new roaming feature for Guam residents. MPULSE customers are able to send and receive text messages and receive voicemail notification while roaming. Roaming fees and charges apply.

MPULSE’s roaming service is provided in partnership with Cingular, the largest mobile phone company in the United States, with more than 57 million subscribers. Headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, Cingular Wireless, LLC, has the largest digital voice and data network in the United States.
