Former Miss CNMI World Tracy Del Rosario is still active in representing the Northern Marianas, although, not as a beauty queen anymore but through her exemplary academic achievement.

Del Rosario has been included in the National Dean’s List and has been nominated to serve as a collegiate scholar in the 2007 International Scholar Laureate Program Delegation on Anthropology and Archaeology. In a letter sent to sent to her parents, Curriculum Director of the National Dean’s List Marguerite Regan told them that their daughter’s selection should not be taken lightly as it is reserved solely for gifted students such as members of the Dean’s List.

“Her participation in the International Scholar Laureate Program Delegation on Anthropology and Archaeology will place her in the ranks of the elite as she pursues her professional career goals,” Regan said, adding that Del Rosario would join a select group of exceptional college students from across America for an “extraordinary pre-professional experience.”

Regan said Del Rosario would join the other scholars in Beijing, China in February next year. She will be attending lectures and hands-on activities.

Among the activities she would be participating in are: exposure trips to museums and historical sites in China, excursion to the Great Wall, and the visit to China’s Giant Panda habitat.

Del Rosario’s mother, Rose, said she is very proud of her daughter that eventhough her reign as a beauty title holder in the CNMI, her daughter still continues to make the CNMI proud through academic excellence.

As a scholar, Del Rosario will be “digging and sifting beside Chinese experts at the fascinating and archaeologically significant site of the Han Tomb, burial ground of Emperor Han Jing Di.”
