Organizers of the upcoming Masters Basketball League are eyeing a possible start by the end of this month.

According to coordinator Tony Rogolifoi, the league is tentatively set to begin on Nov. 29 as officials are giving way to the 2nd Annual DFS NYBA Invitational, which kicks off tomorrow and concludes on Nov. 25.

Rogolifoi said a meeting will be called soon to finalize all issues relating to the league, however, disclosed that all teams interested in fielding a team for the competition must pay an entrance fee of $400 per team. Payment should be made payable to the Basketball Association of the Northern Mariana Islands.

Rogolifoi said he has been in contact with several team representatives, and that so far, a total of eight teams have already expressed interest in competing.

Teams may enter in one of the two age divisions, as the league will have competition in the 35-and-over and 45-and-over categories.

Out of the eight teams, four have shown interest for the 35-and-over competition, while the other four will compete in the 45-and-over contest.

Games will be held at the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, pending availability of the venue.

Rogolifoi explained that all players interested in taking part in the league must provide a copy of documents or identification cards that will be used for age verification.
