Murdered woman possibly a Chinese Papago resident
Investigators are looking into the strong possibility that the murdered woman found naked near Laulau Beach was a Chinese resident of Papago, Saipan Tribune learned yesterday.
Department of Public Safety acting spokesman Sgt. Thomas A. Blas refused to comment on the information.
Sources said some police officers have already checked a house in Papago and was told that the woman left for China a few days ago.
Papago is located near Laulau Beach where the body of the woman was found by two local fishermen along the shoreline last Thursday afternoon.
Sources said investigators already have a clue as to the victim’s identity, based on police records.
Investigators are apparently only waiting for the family of the Chinese woman to come to Saipan for positive identification of the body at the Commonwealth Health Center.
It is not clear yet whether police have good leads as to the killer or killers.
An autopsy revealed that there was foul play involved and that the victim died of asphyxiation by drowning. The victim reportedly had a distinguishing mark of a red rose tattoo on the left chest.
