Telesource to build $43M US Embassy in Fiji

Telesource CNMI yesterday disclosed that the Telesource Group of Cos. has been awarded the $43 million construction of the U.S. Department of State’s new embassy in Suva, Fiji.
Nidal Z. Zayed, president and chief executive officer of Telesource CNMI Inc., said that all their work in the Pacific will soon be managed and coordinated out of their offices in the Commonwealth.
In a statement, Zayed said the award of the embassy project to their group of companies demonstrates the vital role that local CNMI companies can play on a national and international level.
“In fact many local companies are actually very well placed to participate in sensitive government and infrastructure projects. Telesource is proud to call the CNMI home,” he pointed out.
Zayed said that, after extensive analysis and research, and with the assistance of Telesource local representative, Benjamin A. Sablan, Telesource has decided to locate its Pacific regional headquarters in the CNMI.
The construction of the U.S. Embassy in Fiji is expected to commence in late December 2006.
In that project, Telesource’s design partners are Hellmuth, Obata+Kassabaum, PC (HOK), reportedly a premier architectural and engineering firm with extensive experience with the U.S. government.
Zayed said Telesource was pre-qualified for this extensive project based on its prior work experience with the Department of Justice on critical projects such as the Voice of America radio relay station on Tinian.
“Telesource is proud to provide such a vital service to the Department of Justice. We plan full participation in the U.S. Government’s international construction programs over the coming years, including the Department of Defense’s program on Guam,” he added. [I][B](Ferdie de la Torre)[/B][/I]
