SSC calendar is hot off the press
Marathons, golf tournaments, and fun runs aren’t the only methods that the Saipan Swim Club is using to raise funds for the most bemedaled win program in the CNMI as the tankers have put together a calendar
The inaugural Saipan Swim Club 2007 Recipe Calendar is hot off the presses and the tankers are busy offering the glimpse into their lives with a number of island photos, memorable photos of the swimmers, and their favorite meals.
Photos were contributed by parents and coaches and just about everyone contributed their favorite and nearly famous recipes, which include main dishes, side dishes, salad, sauces, desserts, and cookies.
Cooper Graf’s favorite dish “Cheesy Mac and Cheese” is included along with a special Sukiyaki recipe from the Kimuras. In addition to all of the food and photos, the calendar details the SSC’s upcoming events.
SSC president Linda Graf said that proud team mom Ruby Northen conceived the idea and followed through on this fundraising project by canvassing the community for sponsors, collecting the photos, and the recipes.
“She worked hand-in-hand with R&M printers, who did a fantastic job putting it together. Even though these are challenging economic times, the community–both businesses and individuals–has shown how much it appreciates the athletes on the Saipan Swim Club by continuing to support our fundraising efforts. The response to the Swim Marathon, the Inaugural Jingle Bell Golf Tournament, and the inaugural 2007 SSC calendar has been overwhelming. It is so heartwarming to see such support for the youth in the CNMI,” said Graf
Available for $10 each, Graf said that the calendars have already sold-out once as supporters have been purchasing them for themselves and for family members back home.
“The response to the calendar has been amazing. We are already in our second printing. Once people see the calendars they purchase them not only as keepsakes for themselves but to mail to relatives in friends in the mainland,” she said.
Calendars are available at Hamilton’s Bar and Restaurant, Shell gas stations, from any swimmer, by calling Linda Graf at 322-4723 or via email at saipanlinda@yahoo.com, or by emailing Ruby Northen saipanjammaker@yahoo.com.
The swimmers will also be selling the calendars tomorrow evening at the 3rd Annual Jingle Bell Fun Run across from Kristo Rai Church at the Garapan Fishing Basin.
