Underdogs take to the grass for Rudeger
The sport of volleyball has grown leaps and bounds this past year and the Northern Mariana Islands Volleyball Association is ready to roll out the green carpet for the annual Rudy Rudeger Volleyball Tournament.
The mixture of the indoor and outdoor games, the co-ed Rudeger tournament invited players to a random draw six-man event where players are actually penalized for making good plays.
The tournament gets underway tomorrow morning at 9am when it moves from its previous home at the American Memorial Park to Kilili Beach Park for the first time in recent history.
On the line is a heap of bragging rights and what many on the local volleyball scene deem as the ultimate trophy on Saipan—the Rudeger Trophy.
The cost to participate in one of the most popular tournaments on Saipan is $15 per person and $10 for NMIVA members. Included with the cost of entry is plenty of volleyball, food, and drinks. All proceeds will go directly to help pay volleyball teams’ entry fees for the 2007 Pacific Games in Samoa.
