Rota’s Department of Community and Cultural Affairs has announced the official opening of its Community Cultural Center on Thursday, Dec. 14, 2006.

The Rota DCCA has been working around the clock to prepare for the event that will focus on the Chamorro language and culture. Prior to the official opening, the Rota DCCA will be conducting a Cultural Workshop and Demonstration today, Dec. 13, 2006 at their office grounds in Songsong Village.

The opening of the cultural center is intended to highlight a variety of visual demonstrations of cultural traditions. The goal is to promote knowledge, understanding and an appreciation of the Chamorro culture to visitors and the local Marianas community.

The center’s hours of operations are from 7:30am to 6:30pm. on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays during austerity holiday weeks and for regular CNMI government payday weeks on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

The Rota DCCA will eventually invite interested non-profit organizations to take part in maintaining the center. A fee may be charged for the maintenance and upkeep of the building structures.
