SANTA RITA, Guam—As part of the ongoing renovations of the Navy’s Water Treatment Plant, a water outage is scheduled for Dec. 18, 5am to Dec. 19, midnight.

The planned outage will affect the villages of Agat and Santa Rita. Additionally, the Navy’s Treated Water Reservoirs will be affected during the outage due to the lack of replenishment normally provided by the treatment plant. In order to mitigate the impact of this outage, the Navy will be asking its housing residents to implement water conservation measures on Friday and throughout the weekend.

This and future outages are necessary to facilitate Navy Water Treatment Plant upgrades, which will improve treatment processes, modernize process control instrumentation, and provide redundancy. The end result of the upgrades is a better, more reliable water service to Navy customers.

The Navy has been working closely with Guam Waterworks Authority and village Mayors during these renovations in an attempt to minimize negative impacts and to ensure residents are promptly notified of upcoming water outages. (PR)
