The Typhoons and LBT made solid debuts Wednesday night as the Masters Basketball League kicked off at the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium.

The Typhoons committed just two fouls, and dominated against Top 45 to score a convincing 83-54 victory in the 45-and-over division.

With veteran Danny Bicera leading the way, the Typhoons were able to get off to a good start and take a 37-23 lead at halftime, with Bicera spearheading the effort with 12 points.

The Top 45 crew worked relentlessly in hopes of turning things around in the second half.

Ray Basa pumped in 13 points, and J.J. Cruz and Ray Guerrero combined for 10 points, but despite the effort, the team still fell short as the Typhoons managed to outscore their opponents, 46-31, in the final two quarters.

Bicera finished with a game-high 34 points, while Tony Sablan and Manny Sitchon added 12 and 11 points.

Basa paced the Top 45 with 21 points, while Cruz added 10 points.

In the second game, LBT pulled away in the second quarter and held its ground the rest of the way for a 65-51 victory over NIC.

After a tightly fought first quarter, the LBT cagers were able to distance themselves a bit, taking a 36-26 advantage heading into the break, with Noel Delos Santos scoring 12 points to lead the way.

Jorge Villasan and Boy Garcia also put up solid numbers in the first half, and Villasan picked up where he left off and continued to have the hot hand in the second half.

Villasan had eight points in the second half, and Jun Miday pumped in 10 points to join the scoring spree to help the team take home the win.

Villasan and Delos Santos led LBT with 16 points apiece, while Miday and Garcia supported strong with 15 and 13 points.

Giovanni Pardinan led NIC with 14 points.
