Absence of dual license plates will result in citation
The Department of Public Safety will be issuing citations for those individuals who have been driving around without one or both license plates.
As a result of Super Typhoon Yutu recovery efforts, the Department of Public Safety has been stretched out to ensure safety day in and day out as power is being restored and as the island returns to normalcy.
Now, since over 80 percent of the island has been re-energized and as burglaries and typhoon-related misdemeanors continue to die down, the department can go back to enforcement of other local traffic laws like license plates.
According to a source at the Bureau of Motor Vehicles, it has always been in the local Commonwealth law that both license plates should be installed on any vehicle.
DPS officers have been more vigilant in enforcing this law because, according to the source, street racing has become rampant on the island. Through enforcing this law, officers will be able to catch those participating in street racing and run the plates.
