DPS to deploy more cops, medics for Easter
The Department of Public Safety will be deploying police officers and medics to ensure the safety of the Catholic faithful who will attend this morning’s Easter Sunday Mass at the peak of Mt. Tapochau.
DPS Traffic Commander Sgt. Thomas Blas told the media that, similar to what the department did during the Mt. Tapochau trek on Good Friday, it will be fielding police officers to handle traffic and ground control on the mountain for today’s Easter Sunday Mass.
Blas said medics would also be prepositioned for assistance in case of emergency situations.
“We want to make sure that we have access for everybody in there,” he said.
The traffic commander appealed to the devotees to comply with the officers, particularly on passage of vehicles.
“People who have passes are allowed to use vehicles up the hill as well as the handicapped and elderly people. We are going to limit vehicles’ access out there to the general public as much as possible,” he said.
Blas said their only biggest concern is controlling the traffic for vehicles going up and down Mt. Tapochau.
