Frankie Blas pitched four innings of one-hit game to help the PTI Dolphins swim past the Shell Marianas Suns, 11-1, in Wednesday’s Majors division game in the Saipan Little League at the Miguel Basa “Tan Ge” Pangelinan Field.

Blas won the pitching battle against Paul Celis as he held the Suns to one hit—on a Perry Celis third-inning single. He also had seven strikeouts and two walks to secure the Dolphins’ fifth win against two defeats.

Jarred Arriola and DJ Smith led the Dolphins attack combining for 4-for-4 with two runs. Arriola also had an RBI.

Esiah Cruz went 2-for-3 with two runs and a double, while Roque Camacho went 1-for-2 with one run and two RBIs.

The Dolphins also used a six-run, second-inning attack in handing the Suns their sixth straight loss in as many games.

Paul Celis got the loss after pitching four innings, which was shortened by the 10-run mercy rule. He gave up six earned runs on 11 hits with five strikeouts and one walk.

Celis was doing great for 1 1/2 innings as he matched Blas’ every pitch, but lost control of the game midway in the second inning where the Dolphins made their hit parade.

Over at the Francisco M. Palacios Baseball Field for the Junior League, the Kagman Lion Hearts of Reps. Ed Salas and Rosmond Santos snapped the Jets’ seven-game winning run.

The Lion Hearts scored a 6-4 win over the Jets, which is backed by Juan S. Tenorio and Pacific Amusement.

Before Wednesday night’s win, the Claudia Leon Guerrero-managed Lion Hearts lost twice to the Darren Flores-mentored squad.

The Majors division match between the Bank of Saipan Red Sox and Tan Holdings Athletics was being played at press time.
